Cenk completed his undergraduate degree from the University of Western Australia, with a double major in Genetics and Neuroscience. After completion of his bachelors, Cenk moved to the Netherlands to pursue a Masters Degree in Biomedical Sciences at Maastricht University. Cenk focused on genetic causes of mitochondrial disorders to create a combined genetic and metabolic network of mitochondrial processes. Cenk joined the Yu lab from November 2016 to August 2017 to study the underlying genetic causes of autism as part of his Masters program.
